Mrs. Edel's Page

My name is Alana Edel, and I am the Kindergarten Teacher at Catholic Academy of Niagara Falls. I am very excited to be a new member of the Catholic Academy team this year. As a graduate of Niagara University, I have a high appreciation and value for Catholic Education. I have my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood/ Childhood Education B-6, and my Masters in Special Education 1-6. When I am not teaching or planning new things for us to do, I enjoy reading, shopping, crafting, photography, going for walks, and spending time with my family and friends.

What’s New in Kindergarten?
Kindergarten has changed greatly in the past few years. It is no longer the Kindergarten that you or I remember. We follow the Common Core Curriculum and the expectations for students entering and exiting Kindergarten are high. This year, we are beginning the Next Generation Science Standards in our class as well. I look forward to working with you to help your child in reaching his/her full potential, mastering grade level tasks, growing emotionally and socially, and preparing him/her for the following grade. We will also be integrating STREAM into our classroom. It originates from STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), and is infused with Religion and the Arts. Our subjects include; Religion, Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

If you have any questions you can contact me by email I look forward to an exciting year of learning with you and your children!

Here's my Kindergarten Supply List for the 2017-2018 school year. See you in September!

Thank you,
Mrs. Edel
