Mrs. Edel's Page

My name is Alana Edel, and I am the Kindergarten Teacher at Catholic Academy of Niagara Falls. This is my third year teaching Kindergarten and I love every second of it! As a graduate of Niagara University, I have a high appreciation and value for Catholic Education. I have my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/ Childhood Education B-6, and my Masters in Special Education 1-6.

When I am not teaching or planning new things for us to do, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our dog Thor and cat Sophia. We love going for walks, reading and relaxing, as well as hanging out with our friends and family.

What’s New in Kindergarten?
Kindergarten has changed greatly in the past few years. It is no longer the Kindergarten that you or I remember. We will continue to follow the Common Core Standards in ELA and Math, and the Diocesan Curriculum in Religion, Social Studies, and Science (also looking at the Next Generation Science Standards). We will also continue to infuse STREAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) into the classroom and through after-school academies. This year we have started an exciting new reading program called Superkids! I know the kids will love this program just as much as we do, they will be learning so much in engaging and fun ways!

I look forward to working with you to help your child in reaching his/her full potential, mastering grade level tasks, growing emotionally and socially, and preparing him/her for the following grade. Kindergarten is a year of many firsts - I can’t wait to share all of these great experiences with you!

This year we are fortunate to have our wonderful Aide Miss Chris with us. She is a perfect addition to our Kindergarten family!

If you have any questions you can contact me by email alana.edel103@gmail.com
This year is going to be absolutely “Magical”, always remember “Hakuna Matata”!!

Here's my Kindergarten Supply List for the 2017-2018 school year. See you in September!
