Miss McKenzie's Page

My name is Kaycie McKenzie, and I am the Fifth Grade teacher at Catholic Academy of Niagara Falls. This is my first year teaching full time, but my second year teaching at Catholic Academy. I previously taught Keyboarding and Technology. Along with teaching Fifth Grade, I will also be teaching Sixth Grade Math and running a STREAM Academy after school this year.

I am a product of Catholic Education myself, attending Catholic schools from Pre-K through 12th grade. I am truly dedicated to Catholic Education and stand by the values we as a school represent. I have my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and recently received my Masters as a Literacy Specialist.

I am very excited to be teaching Fifth Grade this school year! I have high expectations for my students and plan on helping ALL students reach their full potential as learners and leaders. Building a classroom environment which is grounded in faith, positivity, respect, and acceptance is one of my major goals this year. Students will work hard to achieve their reading goal, which is to read 15 chapter books by June. Although the curriculum and standards are rigorous, I will assist students in mastering all the skills needed to make this year a success!

Parents, thank you for giving me your most precious gift and prized possession, your child. I am honored and blessed to work with each of them.

Miss McKenzie's Fifth Grade Supply List and Mrs. Champoux's Spanish/Religion Supply List for the 2017-2018 school year.

I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation! The following money and supplies are needed on your FIRST DAY of 5th Grade:

          • $25.00 for ALL classroom supplies which I will be purchasing for you
          • $10.00 for a year-long subscription to Storyworks magazine by Scholastic. This is our main ELA text and I know you are
            going to love it!
          • $5.00 for a student planner
          • An art smock or an old oversized t-shirt
          • 3 boxes of tissues
          • 1 2-pocket folder with tabs for Art class

You will be getting an additional letter from Mrs. Champoux letting you know what you will need for her Spanish and Religion classes. Thank you for your cooperation! I hope I have helped make Back-To-School shopping a lot easier. I am very excited to work with you in September. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

See you in September!
